Underwater LED's
Ever since the Miami Boat Show two years ago, I've been wanting a set of underwater lights.
Once Ocean LED came out with a light I knew that was the one I had to have. I was really impressed with how small their power requirements were. Also, how rugged they were. Compared to all of the other lights available, the LEDs seemed indestructable. And they last for thousands of hours. There is no warm up period and you can flash them on and off with no issues.
This is a project actually finished in the spring but just now being posted. There's really nothing to it. The Ocean LED's 2010's that I used came complete with wiring and two very rugged lights.
I chose the small thru hull versions. They only require a one inche hole. Installation difficulty is about a three for the whole project. Seriously easy.
After drilling the holes for the lights it's a matter of putting the 5200 on them and bolting them up. Put some bottom paint on them.
Then it's attaching the wiring and running it to a switch. In my case, the switch is up at the helm.
They are very cool. My marina is in murky river water. Down in the carib we have 100 foot visibility. I figure I'll light up the night !
